CONNECTING KIDS AND WATER
The Youth Water Leadership Program is a student-centered educational experience intended to increase watershed literacy through civic action. Secondary students and teachers engage in project based learning to create unique, water stewardship call-to-action projects. The program connects students to watershed science and management, introduces them to experts in the field, and reveals potential career opportunities.
Pitkin County Healthy Rivers is the primary sponsor for this program. Founded and directed by Wild Rose Education. |
Each year, the Youth Water Leadership Program culminates in a Healthy Rivers Youth Water Summit - a student-driven educational conference creating an opportunity for learning, dialogue, and action on Colorado River Basin issues. Watch a video from the 2019 summit here.
Pitkin County Healthy Rivers initiated the Youth Water Summit in 2017. It was a great success and we've continued to host this highly engaging event each fall. The event is produced and facilitated by Wild Rose Education. |
SUPPORTING PARTNERS
Our region is fortunate to have several incredible organizations working on river and watershed education. Through our grants program, Pitkin County Healthy Rivers has contributed considerable funding in support of our partners' efforts:
We have provided critical funding for many of Roaring Fork Conservancy's research, planning, restoration, & education efforts.
|
We have helped fund a number of Aspen Global Change Institute's research and education projects.
|
We sponsor the Sustaining Colorado Watersheds conference put on each fall by Water Education Colorado, the Colorado Riparian Association and the Colorado Watershed Assembly.
